Conceived and designed as a destination mall, Dubai Mall is the world’s largest in terms of total area and amongst the largest globally in terms of lettable space. Comprising over 1,200 retail units, the Mall is also home to world-class attractions including the Dubai Aquarium (itself accommodating the world’s largest single acrylic panel), Dubai Ice Rink, Dino Dubai, indoor theme park Sega Republic, KidZania and a 22-screen cinema complex.
The Dubai Mall is an exceptional project, both in terms of scale and finish. Omnium is delighted to continue to work long-term on the development of the Mall, securing its position as a landmark global retail centre.
Omnium was appointed in 2004 to deliver full pre- and post-contract services on Dubai Mall to Emaar Properties as part of its Downtown Dubai masterplan project, including initial estimates, tender documentation and evaluations, award, and post-contract variations, settlement and final account work. Interaction with our Infrastructure sector team was essential to ensure that the Mall was serviced appropriately by road, public transport and utilities, and we have continued to handle enhancement projects to keep the Mall amongst the world’s best.
From 2004, Managing Director Nicholas Harris has led a full on-site team of up to 24 throughout the construction and maintenance phases of the Dubai Mall, supported by our large Dubai office team of costs planners and quantity surveyors. Already strong, relationships with our client and its other partners have continued to strengthen and, since the Mall opened in 2008, we have maintained an on-site team presence which is now handling expansion projects including Fashion Avenue, Zabeel and The Boulevard.
One of the largest real estate developers in the UAE, and with reach as far as North America and Europe, Emaar Properties and Omnium have worked together on some of the Gulf’s most significant commercial, residential, leisure and infrastructure projects including Downtown Dubai, Arabian Ranches and Dubai Marina. Currently developing Mohammed Bin Rashid City and Dubai Creek Harbour amongst many others, Emaar Properties continue to implement projects of the highest quality, reinforcing Dubai’s presence in the global marketplace.
Working in the Middle East since 1997, Nicholas has led Quantity Surveying services on super-high rise, mega-tall and major mixed-use projects throughout the Middle East. With a strong emphasis on face-to face contact and close client partnering, Nicholas has unparalleled experience in working on major projects at the highest level.
