For more than 15 years, Omnium has worked with Emaar Properties on the infrastructure elements of Downtown Dubai. Billed at its inception as the most exclusive square mile of real estate in the world, the site has since expanded with the appetite for new and impressive residential, hospitality, retail and leisure development showing no sign of slowing. Downtown Dubai now receives a higher number of visitors annually than New York City, indicating the demand for world-class, sustainable and efficient facilities.
Having worked onsite in Downtown Dubai with our client more or less since the project’s outset, our infrastructure team now benefits from unparalleled knowledge of this world-renowned development. We are privileged to continue to work on expansion projects, gaining tremendous satisfaction in seeing Downtown go from strength to strength.
Omnium’s infrastructure team, led by Nicholas Harris, was appointed by Emaar to deliver full pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services for the whole Downtown development under its original master plan in 2006. A considerable undertaking, infrastructure including gas, electricity, water, sewage, power, chilled water network and a road network needed to be planned and implemented which was capable of servicing the world’s largest indoor mall, the world’s tallest building and man-made lake with the world’s largest choreographed fountain system, amongst many other significant hotel and residential towers.
Infrastructure is an integral element of a master plan development such as Downtown Dubai, requiring extensive industry knowledge and expertise to successfully deliver a scalable solution which allows a community to evolve. Our onsite team, having fostered close working relationships during our time on the project, continues to deliver a full scheme including innovative and energy-efficient district cooling technology and expansions such as the redesign of the 7-lane Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard which reflect Emaar’s huge investment in future-proofed infrastructure.
