At the end of May, Branch Director Nicky Dobreanu participated in the 2-day MENA Construction Forum 4.0 at Dubai’s Habtoor Grand Hotel, making a number of contributions to the event including:

Construction in the Digital Age: Trends & Tools for Staying Ahead

Nicky presented this topic to attendees at the Forum, which discussed the importance of digitalisation in the construction industry, the role of technology in streamlining workflows and improving efficiency, explored the latest developments in this area and shared best practice for the selection of technologies when developing, delivering and operating built assets.

This topical presentation demonstrated Nicky’s – and Omnium’s – approach to the importance of investment in technology and understanding of latest trends in the context of built assets, driving towards efficiency and sustainability.

Panel discussion: Sustainable Construction Technologies

Nicky participated in this highly relevant panel discussion alongside representatives from leading regional developers, property managers and consultants, discussing greenhouse technologies and their role in sustainable and energy-efficient development, the use of solar power, biodegradable materials and zero-energy design, and exploring the need for sustainable models in order to combat climate risks such as flooding and extreme weather events.

With sustainability a critical factor in so many of the projects Omnium undertakes, Nicky’s knowledge made a valuable contribution to this panel discussion which highlighted excellent opportunities in the drive towards building sustainably.

Fernando Freitas joins panel at Future of Architecture Summit

At the recent Future of Architecture Summit, also held in Dubai, Director Fernando Freitas contributed to the panel discussion “In the age of smart tech, is there room for design and project genius?”.

Fernando joined fellow panellists from regional developers, consultants and designers for this insightful discussion looking at the effects of AI and smart tech on architecture, design and the construction industry, exploring possibilities and challenges ahead and contemplating the significance of the ‘human touch’ in these construction disciplines.
