Heathlands School is the UK’s largest deaf school for children aged 3-16, together with Sixth Form, offering both day and residential education for deaf children from Hertfordshire and nationally across the UK. This Ofsted-rated Outstanding school develops pupils’ communication, language and literacy through British Sign Language, Sign Supported English and spoken English from a single site in St Albans, delivered by specialist teaching and support staff. The Heathlands School site comprises state-of-the-art training facilities, as well as weekly boarding facilities which allow the school to support children from around 20 local education authorities, enabling them to grow in independence and responsibility for life after Heathlands.
Omnium’s UK team is delighted to be working with Heathlands School on this exciting development which will further enrich the education and experiences of deaf children in Hertfordshire and beyond, creating fantastic opportunities for their futures within a nurturing and inspirational school environment that gets the best out of every pupil.
Omnium’s UK branch was appointed as Project Managers and Cost Consultants over an important extension to Heathlands School which will enable it to expand its provision for deaf children, including the addition of Sixth Form phase education in purpose-built accommodation and teaching spaces. Delivering full Pre and Post Contract Quantity Surveying and Project Management services from our London-based team, Omnium is utilising extensive master planning and cost benchmarking expertise gained across projects worldwide to support this substantial and much-needed development to be undertaken over five phases, the first of which is now complete.
Led by UK Director of Quantity Surveying Charlie Harris, Omnium’s regional Project Management and Cost Consultancy team is working in close collaboration with Heathlands School and its appointed architects and building contractors to deliver the school’s extension in line with budget and timeframe expectations, without compromise on quality and always maintaining the appeal of the school’s beautiful natural surroundings. Our fifth UK school project in recent years, Omnium has developed a strong reputation for timely and professional management of education sector work, our portfolio for which also includes decarbonisation projects as part of the national drive towards carbon reduction in our public buildings.

Charlie is based full-time onsite at Dubai Hills Estate, working alongside our client to deliver full pre- and post-contract services to the Dubai Hills development, as well as handling overall delivery and coordination of the project for the client in an Executive QS role.
