Saudi Arabian giga-project AlUla plays a key role in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy to develop and promote tourism and heritage across the country. AlUla’s ancient Arabic city and desert oasis, situated in the historic region of Hejaz, is Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its distinctive rock dwellings, desert rock carved burial tombs and spectacular sandstone mountains. The Kingdom’s development of AlUla focuses on history and heritage, arts and culture, the outdoors, adventure and wellness, located across 6 sites. Visitors can enjoy guided tours, safaris, hiking and hot air balloon rides, as well as festivals, exhibitions, events and performances by internationally-recognised musicians in venues such as the stunning mirrored Maraya Concert Hall. Across AlUla, world-class chefs offer the best in international cuisine set amongst the unique surroundings of this historic region, and the giga-project master plan comprises accommodation ranging from luxury and heritage hotels to glamping and campsites.
