Project Update: One Za’abeel

Construction of the development, designed by Japanese architects Nikken Sekkei, is now underway and we’re pleased to bring you an update on the latest at One Za’abeel!

Construction begins

Over the last few months, and following appointment of main contractor ALEC Engineering & Contracting LLC, construction of the project has come to life; excavation of the one of the deepest basements in Dubai is now complete with the towers progressing upwards to their final heights of 67 and 57 floors. The One Za’abeel plot is unique, featuring two buildings constructed around the Al Saada Street elevated highway which will be spanned via a skybridge – ‘The Linx’- which will become the world’s largest cantilevered structure.

The Linx will become a destination in itself, situated 100m above ground, 210m long, and housing restaurants, bars, lounges and other leisure facilities for visitors and those occupying One Za’abeel’s offices, hotel and residences.

What’s next for Omnium at One Za’abeel?

Omnium’s team is now working closely in partnership with our client to ensure a carefully-managed delivery of the project on time for the latter half of 2020, coinciding with Expo 2020 taking place in the emirate.

Crucial to this project, in addition to its unique design and construction, are its sustainability credentials, and Ithra targets One Za’abeel to achieve LEED accreditation. Omnium’s team is working hard to meet this goal, finding new solutions to deliver this lasting and important development for Dubai.
