According to a CIOB article, women make up only 13% of construction sector workers and only 2% of workers on-site are female. Through the Women in Construction Summit, Middle East Consultant aims to raise awareness on the gender imbalance and discuss key issues, including how the construction sector can move forward, as well as inspiring the future generation of female professionals in the construction industry.
Celeste Tai as panellist from Omnium International
With significant project experience, cost planning and benchmarking expertise, Omnium International was delighted to be involved and sponsor the Women in Construction Summit for 2019. It was fantastic to hear many inspirational stories from women who have made their mark within the construction industry, including our very own key team member Celeste Tai, benefiting from years of hands-on experience within the construction industry, who took part in a panel discussion during the thought-provoking day-long Summit.
Managing Quantity Surveyor at Omnium International, Celeste has over 15 years’ experience working in the construction industry and is currently leading Omnium’s Cost Planning services on major projects in Dubai. This year at the WIC Summit, Celeste shared her thoughts for the discussion ‘Building a Better Workplace Culture’, which covered the need for building better workplaces that reward skills and talent rather than gender or age, flexible work culture that allows women, as well as men, to start families and continue to work, and same title, same privileges, same pay, were among only a few discussion points.
Omnium was proud to be a part of the event, and our team welcomed the opportunity to learn and discuss key issues surrounding the role of women in construction. Thank you to the event’s organisers and to all delegates who attended for a wonderful day.
