Downtown Dubai

The Brief

Omnium’s infrastructure team, led by Ashley Woolhouse, was appointed by Emaar to deliver full pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services for the whole Downtown development under its original master plan in 2006. A considerable undertaking, infrastructure including gas, electricity, water, sewage, power, chilled water network and a road network needed to be planned and implemented which was capable of servicing the world’s largest indoor mall, the world’s tallest building and man-made lake with the world’s largest choreographed fountain system, amongst many other significant hotel and residential towers.

Infrastructure is an integral element of a master plan development such as Downtown Dubai, requiring extensive industry knowledge and expertise to successfully deliver a scalable solution which allows a community to evolve. Our onsite team, having fostered close working relationships during our time on the project, continues to deliver a full scheme including innovative and energy-efficient district cooling technology and expansions such as the redesign of the 7-lane Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard which reflect Emaar’s huge investment in future-proofed infrastructure.
