Designed and engineered by our client, internationally renowned architects Calatrava International, the 960 sq.m. Qatar Pavilion at Expo 2020 incorporates the four elements contained in the Coat of Arms of Qatar in a contemporary style which reaches a height of almost 15m. Inspired by two crossed and curved swords, a dhow and island with two palm trees, the Pavilion is intended to pay tribute to Qatari cultural heritage and contains two internal galleries. In the first, visitors can explore the past, present and future of Qatar through a range of media, focused on the Expo 2020 themes of Opportunity and Mobility. In the second gallery, visitors enjoy an immersive audio-visual experience through a wrap-around projection screen and mirror totems, making the Qatar Pavilion an exciting addition to the Expo 2020 site.
Omnium International is pleased to have played a part in the delivery of the stunning Qatar Pavilion for Expo 2020. In harmony with the Expo 2020 themes as well as the cultural heritage of Qatar itself, our team maintained our client’s vision for the Qatar Pavilion as well as placing efficient budget and schedule control at the heart of our Contract Administration work to meet a five-month project delivery timescale.
Omnium International was appointed by Calatrava International to deliver Contract Administration services throughout the Qatar Pavilion’s construction, a project which was delivered in just five months. Already enjoying excellent experience at Expo 2020 through our work on the UAE Pavilion, Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion, the Emirates Airline Pavilion and Alif – The Mobility Pavilion, our on-site team was able to quickly establish efficient Contract Administration planning and execution practices alongside our client to ensure professional negotiation of contractual aspects including price, build programmes and to establish rigorous construction standards and expectations. Benefiting from years of project experience and excellent working relationships with Calatrava International, Omnium’s team ensured the quality of the finished structure represented our client’s exacting approach to unique architecture.
