As the world adjusts to a ‘new normal’, Omnium International’s Managing Director Nick Harris has commented on our firm’s approach to managing projects during COVID-19 as part of a feature in Middle East Consultant magazine alongside other regional sector leaders.
Managing the unknown and navigating clients, projects and a team through this crisis has been a challenge for businesses worldwide. Like other organisations, Omnium International has had to find new ways of working to maintain momentum on projects, to keep clients and our own teams engaged and to support staff who are facing additional demands on their time and resources at home, perhaps through home schooling children or where family members – either here or abroad – have been taken ill.
With immense pressures on the global economy, Nick comments on how Omnium has adapted to the ever-evolving situation.
Omnium International prides itself on our approach to care. We invest heavily in our staff to ensure that good talent is nurtured, and that approach doesn’t change in the face of COVID-19.
“Safeguarding the wellbeing and health of our family is paramount to us and this extends to our clients, other consultants and contractors on each of our projects.”
This guides our approach every day in the current environment, and crucial to that is the way we communicate both internally and with our clients.
“We adopted open and clear channels of internal and external communication. Communicating awareness campaigns is vital to ensure that our staff have access to the most relevant and up-to-date information, advice and guidance… We continue to monitor the situation closely and have implemented remote working policies for the majority of our workforce.”
Together with strict social distancing policies for those who need to work on site or in the office, support and guidance from our HR and IT teams has worked to protect all staff throughout recent months to deliver the tools they need to work safely and securely.
At the heart of Omnium’s business are our strong working relationships established with clients, contacts and others across every project. Since the very start of the crisis, our teams have been in constant contact with client teams to work collaboratively, finding solutions to keep projects on track wherever possible and minimising disruption to programmes.
“The impact on our projects in respect of material delays, skills shortages and self-quarantine are being minimised by implementation of individual stakeholder strategies at all stages of our projects… Our endeavour is to provide our services as usual. We’re well prepared and fully operational.”
Ultimately, Omnium International fosters a family culture, and Nick backs this in the MEC feature.
“We are proud of how our family has reacted to this unprecedented situation by being tolerant, kind and supportive of one another.”
