Nicholas Harris interviewed by MEC about long-term investment in staff

13th August 2019

Omnium International’s Managing Director Nicholas Harris features on the front cover of the August 2019 edition of Middle East Consultant, interviewed by editor Jason Saundalkar about a range of topics from industry challenges to Omnium’s long-term investment in staff through our unique FUTURE Programme.

This feature interview has presented a superb opportunity for Nick to talk in detail about Omnium, our expertise and our values. We are particularly proud of the focus on our staff longevity; continuity of personnel is at the heart of Omnium, allowing us to establish excellent lasting partnerships with clients, stakeholders and throughout our internal teams. Nick says:

“We are passionate and proud of what we do, and you can come back to the same people year after year, and decade after decade in some instances.”

Omnium’s commitment to employee consistency

Around 25% of our team have been with Omnium for over 10 years, with some team members having been with the business for over 20 years. In a transient population such as that of Dubai, our consistency and reliability of service is a key USP and central to the delivery of quality services.

“For us, we won’t short cut our clients on the services we provide. Our reputation is too important to us.”

Omnium International’s FUTURE Programme

FUTURE was launched in 2019, aiming to provide education and training opportunities to staff and providing all those within the organisation with an identifiable career path and new opportunities in quantity surveying.

The programme sponsors interested staff to achieve a degree qualification through a partnership with a UK university, investing in our own people to secure long-term talent through those who are already part of the Omnium organisation. Together with our work experience and placement offer, and a planned rollout of a staff wellness scheme, FUTURE perfectly demonstrates our business’s commitment to the development of local expertise and the promotion of quantity surveying skills and careers.

Nick sums up Omnium’s approach to investment in people:

“We’re all willing to talk to and support each other. If you’re committed and support your staff, they do the same, and the services we offer are of a standard among the best in the region.”

Thank you to the Middle East Consultant team for this excellent opportunity to put Omnium in the spotlight.
